   VISA REGULATIONS

Visitors to Sri Lanka must present a valid passport upon arrival.

Stays of up to 30 days without a visa are granted to citizens of

   Australia,Austria,Bangladesh,Belgium,Denmark,Federal Republic of

Germany, Finland, France, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, JAPAN,

Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan,

Philippines, Singapore, Sweden, Seitzerland, Thailand,United States

and Yugoslavia. All others must have a visa prior to arrival. If you

need to extend your stay while in Sri Lanka, you must apply for a

visa extension in Colombo. Go to the DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION AND

EMIGRATION, Unit 6, Galle Buck Road, Colombo 1 (Tel: 29851), and

follow the signs that say "Registation for Indian Nationals "

whether you are Indian or not.

Expect to spend a full hald-day in the process as their services are

generally very slow, depending on the personnel in charge. No matter

what your nationality, you must possess "sufficient" funds for your

stay and an onward or return ticket. If you don't have a ticket when

you arrive, you must have enough foreign currency to purchase an

   onward ticket.

   (SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR YOU)

When you purchase air ticket for Japan in Colombo, the price is

around 1/3 compared to Japanese expensive air ticket.

However when you go to Sri Lanka with one way ticket, there might be

problem at Narita International Air Port.

Last year I went with one way ticket to Sri Lanka and it was only

the trouble that Air ways' personnel kept me waiting for a long time

saying that I might be refused to enter into Sri Lanka because I had

one way ticket only and I hadn't visa. At that time I had

confidence that I could be allowed for the entry in Sri Lanka with

one way ticket, I persuade Air ways' personnel and at last I could

fly to Sri Lanka. I didn't have any problem at Katunayaka

   Inter national Air Port.

What an ununderstandable system for purchasing air ticket in Japan an

what an expensive air ticket in Japan !!
